English to Dutch translation is one of the most important translation combinations, since manufacturing and service firms from English speaking nations can benefit by translating their business information to the local language of the Dutch consumer markets. History of English to Dutch translations English Dutch translations are believed to have existed since the early 16th century. During this period, several writers from the Netherlands attempted to write literature in the Dutch language by translating the works of various international writers, including those of English writers, into the Dutch language used at that time. The second instance, of English Dutch translation, was the various attempts at translating the New Testament of the Bible, into Dutch, during the 16th and 17th centuries. The first attempt is said to have been made by Jan Utenhove, at the start of the second half of the 16th century. However, the task remained unaccomplished, and Philips Van Marnix was the next translator who tried to complete the translation of the Bible, into Dutch. Unfortunately, he was also unsuccessful. Finally, in the early 17th century, the Synod of Dordrecht ordered some Bible scholars to further translate the New Testament of the Bible, into the Dutch language. In conclusion, the translation was made so that the population at large could understand it, considering there was no Standard Dutch dialect until that period. It is believed by some that, out of this group of scholars, Staten was the main contributor in completing this great Dutch translation task. This also was marked as the beginning of the Standardization process of the Dutch language.
